Research team
Victoria Casado Medrano, PhD
Victoria holds a PhD in Biomedicine and has experience within the fields of Molecular Biology, Pharmacology and Immunotherapy. She has worked on several international research projects focused on Translational Medicine at Max Delbrück Center, Max Planck Institute (Berlin, Germany), University of Pennsylvania and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (Philadelphia, USA). She leads the R&D department at Inhibitec since 2022.
Paula Pérez Adrián
Paula is a PhD student within the industrial program focused on the therapeutic effects of anti-BAMBI mAb in different autoimmune diseases. Her thesis studies have been granted by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and the University of Cantabria. Paula has a BS in Biotechnology and MS in Molecular Biology applied to Biotechnology enterprises (University of Granada, Spain). Her lab expertise ranges from immunology and molecular biology techniques, animal models, analytical chemistry to microscopy techniques.
Sara Del Palacio
Sara completed a degree in Biology at the University of the Basque Country, obtaining a major in Cellular, Molecular and Genetic Biology. During this period she carried out a final degree project in the field of molecular biology, where she was trained in molecular techniques and cell cultures. Currently, she is completing a MS in Biomedical Research focused on translational medicine and cell signaling.
Mónika Urcelay
Monika completed her Bachelor at the German school of Bilbao and carried on her studies as Superior Technician in a clinical and biomedical laboratory at CIFP Tartanta LHII (Bilbao, Spain) and did an internship at Diagnostyka Medical Laboratories (Krakow, Poland). Monica completed her studies in pathological anatomy at IES Cantabria (2021) with practical experience in molecular biology, microbiology and IHC techniques at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Cantabria.

Gabriel Mesquida Jaume
Gabriel holds an Agricultural Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and has an MBA from the Pontifical University of Comillas. He has more than 30 years of experience in the agricultural, environmental and telecommunications sectors, as well as corporate finance. Throughout his career, Gabriel has worked in the areas of production, operations, strategic planning, and financial management.
Eduardo Quemada McGuckian
Eduardo is a Civil Engineer from the UPM; PDD by the IESE Business School of the U. of Navarra. He has been Co-Founder CEO and General Director of PlantResponse Biotech for 9 years, a company in the plant Biotechnology sector, EBT of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, in which he has managed to raise 12 Million euros of capital from international investors and 5 million euros in projects and public financing, among others a Neotec in 2011. He is currently an advisor to companies and start-ups, such as FungiAlert (UK), and mentoring in institutions such as e-FP (Spanish Chamber of Commerce) or the CESIF Study Center.
Ramón Merino, MD, PhD
Medical doctor by the University of Cantabria. Dr Merino holds a PhD in Pathology by the Geneva University (Switzerland). He is principal investigator in the ‘Chronic Inflammatory and Autoimmune Diseases´ group at IBBTEC (CSIC).
Jesús Merino, MD, PhD
Medical doctor and PhD by the University of Cantabria. Dr. Jesus Merino extensive experience in the field is supported by his time at the Immunology Department in the WHO (Geneva, Switzerland) and his position as full Professor at the University of Cantabria.

Gabriel Nuñez, MD, PhD
Gabriel Nuñez earned his M.D. degree from the University of Seville, Spain and received postdoctoral training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas and Washington University in Saint Louis. Then,he joined the Department of Pathology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he holds the Paul de Kruif Endowed Professorship in Academic Pathology. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine of the United States.
Stephane Schurmans, MD, PhD
Professor Stephane Schurmans, Director of the Laboratory of Functional Genetics, University of de Liège. He obtained the MD degree in at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the PhD in at the University of Geneva.
Carlo Chizzolini, MD, PhD
Dr. Chizzolini graduated in medicine and surgery from the University of Parma in where he specialized in clinical immunology and allergology. He also obtained a doctorate in medicine from the University of Geneva. He then joined the Clinical Immunology and Allergology Department of the HUG, where he has been Associate Associate Physician since 2003.
Miguel Lopez Botet, MD, PhD
Dr. Lopez Botet obtained the MD degree at the University of Valencia and his PhD in the University Autonoma de Madrid. He is Professor of Immunology at the University Pompeu Fabr, former Director of the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM) where he is Head of the Immunology Service.
